Just stamps and ink

Today I'm combining two challenges to make the perfect card for my nephew who is undertaking exams as I type! The Embellish challenge is to use text within their colour scheme and CAS-ual Fridays's challenge is to create a graduation card. Put them together with some inspiration from this card of Julie Ebersole's and I came up with a one layer, very CAS, just stamps and ink, perfect for my nephew card. I incorporated the text circles within the design, so I hope this counts as enough for the challenge!

Wishing you comfort

In honor of Sarah who is leaving the Play Date Cafe Challenges, the colours this week are black and white with a splash of green. Right up my street. I combined this challenge with this weeks Make It Monday from Papertrey Ink. I do find green a calming colour which I think is very suitable for sympathy cards.

This card is a little more involved than my recent ones. I again used a woodgrain stamp to clear emboss the white cardstock as I did on my recent venture into white on white. Then layered some die cuts and a stamped circle over a piece of ribbon.

I apologise for this next photo - the weather is crazy here at the moment! Sun, rain, hail, storm force winds, we've had it all the last few days!

Yep, more gingham!

I'm on a roll just recently so this is my second post for today!

I can't help myself! Here's more gingham in honor of this card by Carly for Splitcoast's Featured Stamper FS224.

I have always wanted to colour one of these little hedgehogs - so cute!

I used the negative piece from a scallop die cut to represent the grass and then a little popped up cloud to finish it off. I thought this sentiment worked well with the little guy and would be a great card to give to someone having a tough time.

The best teacher

This is my second post for today, so if you haven't seen it yet scroll down for my Tuesday Trigger and Sweet Sunday Sketch card.

I wanted to squeeze in another card inspired by this weeks Featured Stamper over on Splitcoast - Carly Robertson. I used this card again (love it!) and made a simple teacher card that I can easily reproduce several times for all the children's teachers.

This card is so simple - a little gingham, a stamped panel and a button to finish it off. Perfect for the job in hand.

Have a good weekend!

I'm just flying in this morning. Shortly I'm off on the bus helping with a school trip for the day - wish me luck!

Today I used this weeks Tuesday Trigger from Moxie Fab - aren't those colours fabulously vibrant! I also liked the little flower image on the bowl and used that with this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.

I used a heel from a Christmas stocking die cut for the petals! Got to dash! I will add supplies etc later.

Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop

May is the month when many flowers finally go into full bloom after a long winter's sleep. For the blog hop this month we want to see your favorite take on flowers. You can stamp backgrounds, create custom floral embellishments, showcase unique flower center additions (buttons, rhinestones, beads, etc...), flowers die-cut from different materials (like fabric, felt, vellum, etc...) or anything else you can dream up!

Well hello again! Yes, it's that time of the month - Papertrey Ink Blog Hop time and this month it's all about flowers!

Now before I show you my card let me explain where I'm coming from! I've really been enjoying Tina Fussell's (aka Travelling Mama) exploration of white on white. I know that flowers are traditionally bright and colourful but I wanted to use flowers in a different setting. Then I saw this photo on Pinterest and it got me thinking.

I liked the idea of using white on white but creating interest with layers and different textures. So after all this rambling this is what I came up with.

A totally white card! I know! I'm such a colour junky I wanted to add in a splash of lime or similar but I resisted and you know what, I quite like the result! I clear embossed the main panel with a woodgrain stamp to create a bit of texture. You can see it better in this photo.

I added a mat to the main layer and used dimensionals to adhere it to the card. Then added layers of die cuts, gems and a button. A simple sentiment stamped in grey finished it off.

And because I used Pinterest inspiration I'm also going to pop this card over to Laurie's challenge too.

I hope you have a great time exploring the other blog hop participants.

Chevron Chic

Hi all, just popping in today to share a card for Moxie Fab's Chevron Chic challenge. I used the idea of building a scene that Teri Anderson demonstrated on the Papercrafts Connection blog. The result - Chevron mountains anyone!

I do like a bit of My Mind's Eye and these yummy papers are from their lime twist out of the blue paper pad. To add a bit of interest I used glue dots to attach the flatter layers so that they weren't totally attached and popped up one of the clouds and one of the balloons.

Got to dash today - have a lovely day!

Beautiful simpicity

That's what Carly Robertson's creations have - beautiful simplicity. Pop along to her blog or Splitcoast gallery and delight in CAS perfection. So I was delighted to find that Carly is this weeks featured stamper on Splitcoast. I chose this card to case. Here's my version.

The butterfly is made up from a stamped body from PTI's set Wishing You and then a double die cut. The lower die cut is dark purple and then the stamped die cut on top. You might be able to see it better in this photo.

I used Carly's card as my inspiration but I also used the colours from this weeks CR84FN and the bling meets the CAS-ual Fridays challenge!

And for those in the UK - wow is it windy your way! All my flowers have been flattened and I can't believe the angles the trees are bending to! I'm hoping we don't get any damage. Take care and keep your hand on your hat!

Play hard

Lime green mixed with black and gray - are you kidding me, just up my street! These are the colours for this weeks Color Throwdown challenge. Going clean and graphic again I came up with this card for my nephew.

Don't you just find CAS suits boy cards. I certainly seem to head in that direction whenever I have a boy card to make! In real life the green paper is much more zingy but doesn't seem to have photographed well.

Have a good weekend!

Supplies:

Stamps - PTI boy basics game on
Ink - Versafine onyx black
Paper - SU, My Mind's Eye lime twist life of the party
Dies - Spellbinders stars, circles
Punch - SU word window

The three Rs

Reduce, reuse, recycle that is! I don't know if you remember the presents I put together for my Mum which included a sweetie jar with a ribbon and tag. Well while my Mum was visiting the sweeties got consumed (no surprise there!) and the tag was left behind. Roll on a week and the current CR84FN challenge is to use red, yellow and a neutral. Ummm, the tag was on my desk next to papers I'd pulled out with the intention of using for the challenge and the gift card holder seed packet I'd done recently was still in the forefront of my mind. Put everything together ..... and you have a seed packet sweetie holder!

I thought this would be so cute as a party treat.

on the back I added a little die cut to dress up the ribbon and the Velcro spots to hold it all together.

Royal fun!

Hello again! If you are here for today's For Your Inspiration post please scroll down one.

I couldn't resist playing with this weeks Tuesday Trigger - some Royal fun! I recently wrote a post about a Union Jack card which had really inspired me, so when I saw this weeks Trigger I just had to play along. The muted colours of the Union Jack, the little flags and the twirly pattern on the cakes - wow what a lot I wanted to use.

I had such fun winding thin strips of paper around cocktail sticks to create the streamers coming from behind the star! The little flag turned out cute too and I added some glitter to the star just to glam it up a bit.

Oh and I'm going to enter this into Splitcoast's CAS119 (word inspiration - gift) as this is going to make a cute gift tag for a friend's present.

Well that's me for today. Off to collect lots of kids from school!

Exciting news!

Well I've been sitting on some exciting news - I've been asked to be on the design team of the new challenge blog For Your Inspiration! Of course I jumped at the chance - have you seen their amazing inspiration photos! Have a little look at the photo for this weeks challenge!

Isn't that just fabulous! I love the bold dramatic colours, in particular the colours set on to black on the right of the photo. Here's the card I made.

A totally CAS card to give to my son. My eldest is a swimmer - absolutely loves it, but had a swim meet on the weekend which didn't live up to his hopes and targets he had set himself. This card is to encourage him to meet those targets and reach his dreams. I know he can do it and I thought the rising strips of colour taken from the inspiration photo reminded me of rising levels. The sentiment "Take it to the next level" just fit the bill perfectly.

Pop on over to For Your Inspiration and join in the fun!

Happy bird.day!

It's time for another Embellish colour trends challenge! This time the extra element of the challenge is to incorporate tags. Oh, I love a tag or two! So making use of the challenge to tick something off my to do list, I set about making a gift card holder for my niece's birthday.

I very much admired the seed packet die in the latest Papertrey Ink release. It fell in to my basket somehow but seeing as I will have to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive in my sticky little hands here in the UK I had a go at making my own. Here's the back - I traced around a Spellbinders labels 14 die to create the fancy edge to the flap.

I added a couple of Velcro circles so the holder can be used again.

And a gift card isn't complete without a matching card and a toning present all wrapped up too.

Nature, inspiration and a challenge

Back in March I saw this wonderful card by Julie Ebersole that I wanted to CASE. Also, for the last few weeks when I stand at my kitchen window I look out on to a small bunch of deep richly coloured tulips with an acid lime backdrop of new Cornus leaves and I've been itching to pull out matching cardstock! Then to top it off I saw this weeks Play Date Cafe colours and they were a perfect match! So with cardstock in hand and the fab inspiration from Julie's card, I made this little thinking of you card.

Those colours are just made to go together. I added the little button to bring in the grey from the challenge colours.

Keeping posts short and sweet at the moment - things have been a bit hectic. I had a lovely time with my Mum for a few days and am now in that post-visitor tidy up phase!

Happy Birthday

I know, what a very unoriginal blog post title! However, inspiration wasn't forthcoming and I've only a little bit of time to pop in and share a quick card. I used the Sweet Sunday Sketch this week to make this bright and happy card. Lots of patterned paper, which is unusual for me, but I've just had a delivery of some new My Mind's Eye paper pads and wanted to use them.

The sentiment is from another delivery which popped through my door this morning - the latest Waltzingmouse Stamps sentiment set - Say It Loud. Great for using the sentiment as the main focal point.

Over the paper panels I laid a transparency I've had in my stash for a while but thought went really well with the papers.

Off to make preparations for my Mum's birthday tea now.
